Introduced in 2010, the SIG516 is a family of rifles designed by SIG Sauer Inc in the USA based on the AR-15 platform. Unlike traditional AR-15, the SIG516 uses a piston system instead of direct impingement, much similar to how the HK416 works. But in contrast, the SIG516 has more interchangeable parts with other AR variants.
SIG516 comes in two generations, and in 4 different barrel lengths: 16 inch (Patrol), 14.5 inch (Tactical Patrol), 10 inch (CQB) and 7.5 inch (PDW). This rifle had since been discontinuted by SIG Sauer in 2019.
