Howa Type 64 - JSDF Battle Rifle
Howa Type 64, a Japanese made cold war era Battle Rifle introduced into the Japan Self-Defense Force (JSDF) in 1964. This rifle is only in use exclusively by the JSDF and was never exported out of Japan, which replaced the American supplied M14 and served as a standard issue rifle until the introduction of the Howa Type 89, in 1989.
Chambered in a reduced powdered 7.62mm NATO round and feeds from a 20 round box magazine. The rifle features an intergrated bipod and a M14 style optic mounting system. It can also be mounted with a Japanese made M1 Bayonet.

Uses magazines similar to the M14, but has 2 witness holes on the left side.

M1 Bayonet. Japanese M1 Bayonets feature a handle similar to the M6 Bayonet fitted for the M14.
Heatshield
Selector: ア (Safe), タ (Semi), レ (Auto)
Buttstock, has the shoulder plate available for recoil reduction during automatic firing - similar to the feature on the M14.
