SIG SG 553 5.56mm Assault Rifle

An updated version to the SG 552, the SG 553 by SIG Sauer AG is a carbine (or "commando") length assault rifle part of the 550 series of Swiss made SIG rifles. Besides the change in charging handle design, the upgrade from the 552 to 553 re-positioned the recoil spring from the back of the receiver to wrap around the piston rod, which helped with improving reliability issues.

A lot of aftermarket parts are also available, mostly manufactured by Brugger and Thomet such as handguards, picatinny rail adapters and stocks.

The particular variant I modelled comes with a flat top upper receiver, with flip-up ironsights.
